loving you : loysel's toy

my cuppa lovely mocha
egg benedict with bacon
victoria sandwich, fall in love by how neat she look
this is a real beauty, love how moist it is - our favourite flourless chocolate cake
A sunny Sunday late morning, together with sis, we met up with a long lost friend A.T for brunch.  We decided to visit Loysel's Toy at Kampong Bugis as I have always wanting to go there and have a try.

It's a 10 minutes walk from Lavender MRT Station (well depend on how fast you walk), passing by the beautiful Kallang Riverside garden and crossing a small bridge, you can easily spot the bustling cafe located at level one of a building name Ture.

The cafe is crowded with people going there for brunch and some gatherings.  We ended up taking a bar seat beside the music player facing a al fresco area and happened to saw some kids having their birthday party over there.  I like this kind of feeling, sitting in a cafe, chatting with friends and people looking.

For my brunch, I ordered an Egg Benedict with Bacon with a cup of hot mocha.  And follow by Victoria Sandwich and Flourless Chocolate Cake to share.  Sis has got her bad experience with Ice Mocha in one of the cafe we visited previously and she is now using Ice Mocha as a benchmark for different cafes.  Well, she fell in love with Loysel's Toy's Ice Mocha and she has been talking about it since then.  The food portion is just nice and overall, it's a very relaxing place for a lazy Sunday.I hope to drop by soon again... :)

spotting the sweet spot

lazing at sweet spot

interior of cafe
As part of my exploration in Marina Bay Sands, I spotted this stylish cafe located at level one of tower 3.  Serving daily coffees, pastries and cakes, this cafe is very popular among the Caucasian tourist.

This is a minimalist designed cafe and not much of the seating space is available.  Most of the guests either grab and go or finish up what they have and go off.   And because of this, all the cups and plate they used are disposable.

As I was waiting for my clients to be ready, I got myself a Mille-Feuille which I'm crazy about recently ever since my last visit to Flor and also a cup of my usual Mocha.  Mille-Feuille is a puff pastry with pastry cream and powdered sugar, I do have some difficulty 'dealing' with it with the disposable fork that I had.  Frankly speaking, I felt kinda bad to mess up their beautiful floor with my flaky pastry bits falling here and there.  As for my Mocha, I do felt a bit bitter when I first tasted it, I thought I might need a packet of sugar to 'tame' it a bit, but after a few bites of my Mille-Feuille, the Mocha became bearable or perhaps I got used to it.

I chatted with the staff and from them I know that they do have 2 more branches (push cart) located at Marina Bay Sands Shoppe.  Guess their concept is more of a take-away style.  It will be a good place for you to kill some time while waiting for the others, but definitely not for any gathering or relaxation.

found kith

bubbly heart
the interior of the cafe
woo... protein shake
It has been quite sometime since I last update the blog due to my work.  I just spent my splendid week with 2 guest from Japan on a very special project.  Though it was tired, I really enjoyed spending time with them, showing them around this little island that I lived in and most important of all, its this wonderful friendship that we built throughout these few days.  I hope they enjoyed themselves here and hopefully we can meet each other again.  I am now trying to post up about the cafes or restaurants I had been to recently, so please do bear with me if you see a few posts within a day... It's just me, too eager to share with you all everything.

This is the second branch of Kith cafe located at Parkmall, near Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station.  I have not been to their very first branch at Robertson Quay, but read so much about it and finally I'm here at the branch.

Upon crossing the road to Parkmall, the cafe is just located at your left hand side, and there's a sign board there to direct you too.  This branch is not really big but they have ample outdoor seats, I love them placing different types of magazines at the back of the seats, so that you can enjoy your coffee and relax.

Looking through their menu, I realised that they do serve Protein Shake.  Seeing it reminds me of my ex-colleague who will make protein shake every evening to replace his meal.  Though it looks interesting, but the protein shake don't come cheap.  Guess, I don't really need this after all.  Anyway, I got a cup of Mocha, while Y.B got herself a cuppa Latte.  The coffee was really good and aromatic, even Y.B whose initial thought was just to accompany me, enjoyed her cup of Latte.  There isn't much cakes available when I was there, but well, they just start operation few days ago when I was there.  I hope to go back there again to try their breakfast and not forgetting my cup of Mocha.  Going to love this place~~~

exploring flor...

Mango Pie
Waguri Mille Feuille
shop front

different types of pretty delicacies 'seducing' me

my cup of latte

This is an unplanned trip to Duxton Hill today.  My sis, little nephew and I were wanting to go for some Korean BBQ for dinner along Tanjong Pagar Road, but find ourselves arriving too early, therefore, we intend to look for a place to relax and sit down for some drinks.

Flor Patisserie is a Japanese Patisserie serving Japanese inspired French pastries and cakes.  You can choose to have it take away or if you have some time like us to spare, there are little sitting corners for you to relax and enjoy the beautiful and delicious cake.

I ordered a Mango Pie and Waguri Mille Feuille along with a cup of Latte.  The Mango Pie is a Baked creme d'amande tart filled with pastry cream, and topped with fresh ripe mango and blueberries.  The mango is sweet and juicy and the combination of the sweetness from the fruit and the pastry goes so well that you just can't get enough of it.

Sis fell totally in love with their Waguri Mille Feuille which is a pastry with delicate strands of French chestnut cream carefully piped over a sandwich of crisp, flaky puff pastry and pastry cream, topped with sweetened Japanese chestnuts.  This pastry looks somehow similar like Mont Blanc, a friendly Japanese staff explained to us that the difference between WMF & Mont Blanc is that Mont Blanc is with the sponge cake whilst WMF is using the flaky puff pastry, though both were using chestnuts, the texture is totally different.  Sis love it so much and we decided that we will order this cake for our birthday in September.

Overall, I love the coziness of this patisserie and the warmth of the staffs serving in the little shop.  Though the sitting place is not a lot and the pastries might be a bit pricey, but it's still alright for a once  in a while indulgent.  I really love it and I recommend you all to try the pastries there, and who knows, you will be the next one falling in love with Flor...

slow afternoon at McCafe

beautifully decorated mochacchino

my promotion set deal

the berries cream cheese melt
Recently, I have been finding myself craving for some good coffee, but most of the places I'm at don't seems to be near any nice cafe.  Desperately, I wanted to have some coffee today and I don't care much about anything, I find myself walking straight into McCafe.

This particular McCafe is located in a Business city at the west, there isn't much crowd there as most of the people must be up at their office desk doing their work at that point of time.  I took the promotion of  Strawberry Cream Cheese Melt and Mochacchino which cost less than $5.  The Mochacchino was great but I don't really like my Strawberry Cream Cheese Melt, personally I find it too oily.  Other than that, I quite enjoy the slow afternoon in a surprisingly not crowded McCafe, just so relax...

may the stranger's reunion

my cup of mocha serve on a purposely mis-matched cup and saucer

My work has become more and more busy and I'm trying my best to update my blog as possible.  Still remembered my last cafe visit at Grin Affair?  Though we enjoyed the yummy dessert but there was no drink available.  So after Sis and I enjoyed our yummy cake, we walked a bit further to a nice cafe - Stranger's Reunion for our coffee.

This is a new cafe along Kampong Bahru road and just a few shops away from Highlander Coffee.  I was so surprised that the cafe is so crowded on a Monday afternoon.  As usual, I had my Mocha and sis had Iced Mocha.  I was quite alright with my Mocha just finding the chocolate slightly bitter, however, sis don't really enjoyed her Iced Mocha as she find it too bitter for her liking.

Over here, they do serve sandwiches, waffles and many more.  They have unique selection of cakes too.  I was attracted to their Chendol cake but we just had cake over at Grin Affair, guess we just stick with coffee this time round.

their signature way of serving their sandwiches

their unique 'cup' to serve plain water
Found this cafe when walking my way back from my head office to my work place.  Hidden at a corner, just opposite the substation, this is a unique cafe with an unique name and have an unique way to serve your sandwich and your water.  Friendly lady boss and you can see regular customers popping in to get their daily coffee fix.

I love the open concept and the way they serve their sandwich with a knife piercing through it and not forgetting my first experience in drinking from a measuring jug and nobody finds me crazy doing it.

mind your selfishness | selfish gene cafe

meow's latte
spacious cafe

warm chocolate cake
After enjoying ourselves at 'The Plain', Meow and I went off to try this cafe - Selfish Gene Cafe which is  just around the other end of the shop houses street.  Meow likes this cafe because of the natural light and also how spacious it is.

The servers here are truly friendly and he really take time to explain to us the menu and even joke with us when we ordered our warm chocolate cake.  He told us that the cake is moist but not molten(which im hoping for), so at least I don't feel disappointed when there's no lava flowing out from the centre of the chocolate cake.  Ha ha ha...

Overall, this is quite a nice and spacious cafe, they even have extension plug placed near to seats so that we can charge our laptop while enjoying our coffee.

I have heard a lot about this cafe situated along Craig Road and finally got a chance to come visit with Meow.  Love the simple and homey design and the staffs are so carefree and I simply feel like im coming to a friend's home for gathering.

Meow and me shared the 'breakfast dean' which is poached egg on vegemite and cheese toast sourdough.  An interesting combination and it taste really wonderful.

gloria coffee

Just a cup of coffee to help ease a hectic, busy day from work.

A coffee place which had been opened for almost a year plus in a corner of a quiet street.  I happened to pass by this cafe every morning while on my way to work, but never get a chance to really visit it.  So as I still have some time available before meeting my friend at City Hall.  I dropped by to have my daily coffee fixed.  My mocha latte was aromatically delicious, it did makes my whole tea experience better apart for some flaws in the pastry I ordered.
